Contemporary Dance – Partnering – Yoga. The Best for the End of Summer!

DANCE PERFECT Studio is preparing at the very end of summer from August 28 to September 1, 2023 a workshop for all those interested in contemporary dance, ballet and yoga, who want to discover something new.
Four 90-minute classes a day Monday through Friday will cover Contemporary dance as you may not know it, partnering techniques, yoga and related body care techniques.

Who is the workshop for
The workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced dancers, performers and those interested in researching movement who are interested in Contemporary Dance, Ballet, as well as the basics of martial arts techniques, Yoga and healthy living.
Both Contemporary Dance and Partnering classes will cover the basics of martial arts inspired contemporary dance techniques, tailored for dancers and performers.
The Yoga class will be expanded to include additional techniques - body massage and holism - a holistic approach to one's health.

Contemporary Dance – Embodying Critical Situation – Abhilash Ningappa
The lessons focuses on improvisation based on martial arts principles. He has developed a unique method and practices that empower dancers to make choices and explore the possibilities of movement through composition. Through creative choices, dancers can recover and revisit movements, leading to the creation of a performance.
The workshop starts with a warm up session that leads into various movement practices influenced by martial arts and contemporary dance. This progression ultimately leads towards improvisation practice.
Abhilash's research focuses on sensorial perceptions and their relation to early life and memories. In his workshop, he emphasizes the fundamentals of movement, such as breath, speed, and energy, involving the core structure of the body, influenced by different methods of Kalari Payattu and other martial arts. The focus is on the dancer's relationship with the space and the people around them, creating a unique and embodied experience.
Overall, Abhilash Ningappa's workshop offers dancers a holistic and embodied approach to improvisation based on martial arts principles. Through his unique method, dancers can develop their creative choices, expand their movement possibilities, and create dynamic performances.
Shifu Ash – Combat Dance
Contemporary Dance through the lens of Combat Dance technique – Shifu Ash
A perpetually evolving reference system, an archive of information compiled by hybridising information from many movement practices. As a movement practice it focuses on finding the hidden connections of inner & outer space. Combat Dance offers a higher complexity of the combinations, high physical challenges, and an emphasis on speed, dynamics, and risks.
The fundamental areas of Combat Dance covers:
- The process of understanding and collaborating with the human structure received through thousands of years of evolution with an aim to preserve the health of the musculoskeletal system and also enhance the efficiency of the body. The development of connections between Mind & Body through playful improvisation that aim to foster creativity, and reflexivity.
- The process of understanding harmony and getting aligned with the universal patterns through scientifically and spiritual metaphors.

Partnering for Ballet and Contemporary Dance dancers – Shifu Ash
A unique partnering technique, recommended and practiced by Contemporary and Classical Ballet dancers worldwide. The class provides an alternative approach to ballet training and encourages creativity and artistic expression.

Abhilash Ningappa
Abhilash Ningappa
A highly recognized performer, choreographer, and teacher both in India and internationally. As the Founder and Artistic Director of Play Practice Artists Residency in India, Abhilash has post-graduated in SEAD (Salzburg) and Post Masters in APASS (Advanced performance and scenography studies in Belgium). In addition, he is a trained yoga practitioner and martial arts teacher with expertise in Kalari Payattu and contemporary dance.
Abhilash is the recipient of the PECDA (Proper Education & Career Development Academy) award for "Architect of Self Destruction" and has taught in various dance studios across the world. He has also choreographed several works and collaborated with other artists. Abhilash has extensive experience in teaching Story Boarding workshops and Embodying critical situation, an intensive movement practice based on the principles of martial arts. He also offers Improvisation and composition workshops focused on performance as a practice.
Abhilash has been organizing the Play Practice Apprenticeship program and Yoga Practice teachers training program for the past five years. In 2019, he launched the first Fight Practice martial arts workshop and organizes yearly residencies for artists in India.

Shifu Ash
Shifu Ash
A dance movement researcher, philosopher, choreographer & visual artist based in Mumbai, India. His expertise lies in movement practices such as Wing Chun, Aikido, Modern Contemporary Dance, Ballet and Contact Improvisation with an experience of 20 years. He is also a former member of CID-UNESCO Paris (International Dance Council) and the founding member & CEO of ProDancer (earlier known as Dance Council India). As a movement practitioner he has trained with number of masters like: Grandmaster IP Chun, Nancy Stark Smith, David Zambrano, Frey Faust, Sara Shelton Mann, Kira Kirsch, Andrew De Lotbiniere Hardwood, Akram Khan, Desmond Richardson, Era Jouravlev, Stephanie Godino, Terence Lewis, Mia Michael, Sonya Tayeh, Anjelika Doniy, Danny Ezralow, Ohad Naharin, etc. to name a few.
He has been invited to teach at some of the prestigious dance festivals & companies in India & abroad like Impulstanz Vienna International Dance Festival, Goa Contact Festival, Goa Dance Residency, Berlin Contact Festival, Contact Meets Contemporary Festival Goettingen, Tokyo Nomadic Residency, Chinchintalu Festival Dubai, Terence Lewis Contemporary Dance Company, Nritya Shakti, Institute Of Classical & Modern Dance India, Saint Petersburg Conservatory Dance, Radi Sveta Art, SDVIG Studio, etc.His current project involves choreographing for an upcoming feature film in India and co-curating a dance festival called Partner Dance Festival.

Workshopu fees
Full workshop – Four 90-minute lessons per day (total 20 lessons) CZK 6,900
Three 90-minute lessons per day (total 15 lessons) CZK 5,700
Two 90-minute lessons per day (total 10 lessons) CZK 4,300
We recommend all participants to attend the whole workshop. This is the only way to get the greatest added value of the teaching at the best price.
Depending on their focus and preferences, participants can also choose to attend only three or two lessons per day. The chosen lessons must be the same throughout the workshop. Due to the teaching process, it is not possible to alternate lessons during the week.
Workshop payment
In cash or by card upon handover of application at the reception desk or by bank transfer. With confirmation of your application we will provide to you the necessary data for bank transfer payment incl. QR code.
