Livia Balážová: Mind Cross workshop on February 20 & 21, 2016.

The famous Ultima Vez dancer invites you to the workshop Mind Cross at Dance Perfect Studio. Workshop is focused on the basics of dance, movement elements and instincts, which our body controls while dancing.

Lívia Balážová
Lívia is Contemporary Dance performer from Slovakia, living in Brussels. Lívia studied at the conservatory J. L. Bellu in Banska Bystrica (Slovakia), at SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance in Salzburg (Austria) and at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels (Belgium).
Worked with Portuguese choreographer Rui Horta "Talk show" with French dance company Kubilai Khan Investigations "Tiger Tiger Burning Bright".
From November 2012 joined the company Ultima Vez in Brussels first with revival "What the Body Does Not Remember" and in 2015 the creation of performance "Speak Low if You Speak Love".
She participated in collective work in Costa Rica with Zebastian Mende Marin and Paz Mendez Marin named "El Gato de Schrödinger".
Performed her solo work "Čerešne" (Cherries) at Solo Festival in Portugal and "Čerešne*" (Cherries*) in Brussels. Share her workshop "Mind Cross" in Slovakia, Hungary, Chile, Portugal and Belgium.



Mind Cross workshop
In the first part of the class we are focusing on improvisation with different tools, which we apply in following games. Colorful imagination is the guide of an authentic movement, in which we are constantly exploring the depth of the sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste of the surrounding world or the world of fantasy. Letting your instinct take over stereotyped thinking, ideas, breathing, speech and movement of our daily life.
The origin of the games comes from the children games. They awakened in me inspiration, that already during my studies at P.A.R.T.S. together with Nathan Jardin*, we managed to transform the game into a larger movement vocabulary.
The point of the games is, that it wakes up our visual senses. By finding fluidity in movements we acquire accelerating speed. In these games are set up rules, which according to them we are changing the directions, forms, shapes, rhythm and dynamic of the body. Through the rules we are able to create many possibilities and play with movement, which is connected to constant thinking and reading from the partner's body.

The workshop will consist of two 90-minute lessons on each day:
Saturday, Feb 20: 14:00-15:30 a 15:45-17:15
Sunday, Feb 21: 14:30-16:00 a 16:15-17:45
It is possible to sign up for the whole workshop or for one day only.

This workshop is designed for intermediate and advanced dancers. Its level will be tailored to the actual dancers’ abilities.

2 days - 4x 90 minutes CZK 1.000 / EUR 40
1 day - 2x 90 minutes CZK 600 / EUR 25
