Professional ballet dancer (trained in British and Vaganova technique) with over 30 years of international dance experience including soloist and principle roles, choreography, and professional teaching of children and adults. Professionally trained pilates instructor with certification from the Alan Herdman Pilates School in England.
Education
1976 Graduated from Ankara State Conservatory Programme in Classical Ballet. Studied under trainers from the Royal Ballet, England, Molly Lake, Travis Kemph, Angela Baily, and Beatrice Fenmen.
1984-1989 Trained at the Pineapple Dance Centre in London, England (yearly three-month workshops). Trainers included Maryon Lane and Laura Connor of the Royal Ballet.
1987 Completed certification in pilates instruction at the Alan Herdman Pilates School, London, England.
Experience
1976-1981 Solo classical ballet dancer, Ankara State Opera & Ballet. Worked with international trainers and choreographers including Todd Bollender, Alexander Prokofiev, Nikolai Beriozof, Vladimir Sukanov, Valery Panov, Sulamith Messerer, Maryon Lane, Nikolai Haritonov, Flemming Raiberg, and Andrei Prokovsky.
1981-1996 Principal dancer, Ankara State Opera & Ballet. Participated in international ballet competitions: 1981 Varna, Bulgaria (9th place); 1983 Osaka, Japan (12th place); 1984 Moscow, Russia (14th place).
1986-1987 Danced lead roles in over 100 international performances, including an Ankara State Opera & Ballet production in Hong Kong, and various international group performances in Japan, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, UK, and USA.
Performances included lead roles in: Bahçesaray Fountain, Legend of Love, Eros and Thanatos, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Insancik, Insan Insan, Raymonda, La Sylphide, Les Sylphides, Romeo and Juliette, Legend of Two Hearts, The Idiot, Concerto Barocco, Anna Karanina, La Fille Mal Gardée, and The Four Seasons.
1992 Established the Modern Dance Company in the Ankara State Opera & Ballet.
1996-2001 Artistic Director and Head Choreographer of the Ankara State Ballet. Responsible for choreography, casting, teaching, fundraising and overall management. Organized 98 domestic tours and promoted Turkish ballet internationally with tours to Bulgaria, Japan, Germany, USA, Croatia, Hong Kong, and Hungary.
2002-2003 Established Güven Le Dans dance school in Ankara (Founder, Artistic Director, Ballet Teacher and Pilates Instructor)
2005 Organized The Three Tenors opera concert in Ankara; responsible for overall coordination including repertoire, fundraising and marketing.
2003-2008 Established Sanat Akademi school for performing arts in Ankara (Founder, Artistic Director, Ballet Teacher and Pilates Instructor)
2008-2010 Master Teacher of Classical Ballet, The School of Dance (Ottawa)
